Travel blog by Rebecca and Fatima

Rebecca Ursani
The first time I stepped out of my country to UAE.

It was the month of November, 2015 when my family planned to travel to Dubai to which in no time we got our visas and I was all set to explore not only the world of Arabs but to discover myself also. Now as Dubai was the first foreign country I was travelling to, it was also the first time I was going to travel in an airplane and I was super excited for that.

The first to-do was to overcome the fear of an aero plane. The funny thing to me was that we got our seat numbers in the tail of the plane and there are chances that vomiting happens in that portion of the plane when it takes off. So I was already prepared with the paper bag in my hand if in case I vomit. The take-off had my stomach tickling and of course my ears closed until I swallow repeatedly.

When we landed the Dubai airport, I was startled at looking how huge it was. Before arriving at the airport I never knew it is the busiest international airport. My trip was of five days only and I wished if I could stay longer but anything that lasts more than the limited period, it becomes boring even if you love it with all your heart.

UAE, undoubtedly, is a fantastic country but only with artificial beauty. The architecture is breath taking and almost all the Arabic buildings resemble each other because they have the outer structure like a fat tummy. Burj-al-Arab is one of those buildings whose stomach is just a little bit out but it doesn’t look more fat and awkward. On the contrary, Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world and the prettiest. Its height is 829.8 meter long and has 163 floors.

I cannot talk about all the attractions in Dubai because Dubai as a whole is an attraction itself where tourists from all around the globe travel here and spend their most amazing part of life. Out of all the places I traveled, I cannot decide which one was the best and I surely missed a lot of gorgeous places because of the short span of time.

Our first and one of the nicest tourist spots was dinner at cruise. There is a sea where all the cruises stand in a queue and when the boat is almost fully occupied with the customers, the boat starts moving and meanwhile we start having our meals. It’s a really beautiful time spent having food while the boat is running and you feel like you are shooting a movie scene.

Another place that was the most happening was Desert Safari. So far the most hilarious and stupendous experience of my life. They take us on a tour of whole desert. The sand mounds are so high that it seems dangerous to even imagine going on a ride. But once you are in your jeep, you cannot help laughing because it tickles a lot, going up and down and up again on such a bumpy ride. The jeeps’ tires are air loosened before starting the ride so that the jeep become jumpy and easily drivable. Those who have the fear of heights can avoid taking this ride because this can be proved as injurious to them. After we were done with fun riding, we were guided to our camps where a number of stalls were available. Desert Safari has a number of entertainments for its audience. There happens a fire show in which the man literally plays with fire and everyone is taken aback with his brave and fearless stunts. Then comes the Tanoura dance. This dance resembles Sufi dance where the dancers just swirl and swirl and swirl without stumbling even once. The dancers have colorful and lit costumes which become more attractive when they swirl.

The last and most memorable day was spent in Abu Dhabi which is just an hour drive from Dubai. Abu Dhabi is not much fun and exciting as Dubai but we went to two places; Ferrari world and Shaikh Zayd mosque. Out of all the rides in Ferrari world, Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest roller coaster had me swaddled in its speed. Before riding this roller coaster I had never in my life ever rode any ride but this. A coward like me would have never preferred such dangerous ride but I don’t know what just strike me and I went for it without any second thought.

Throughout our holiday, we kept losing our touch with each other because there were two families and each traveled in two separate cars. Just remember, whenever you go for a vacation with a heavy number of people, make sure you stay in contact and have at least one sim card with each family so that nobody loses their track of someone or somewhere.

I missed more than half of the Dubai but those five days trip is worth reminiscing. UAE is off my bucket list now. Hope you go there some day too.

FATIMA.
Trip to Tando Soomro Asim Farm.

Sudden plan to visit Tando Soomro. When I came to know from one of my teachers that we are going to visit Tando Soomro Village then I was like it will be too much fun for me to visit or tour villages and in my mind this thing comes that it will be village and from my childhood I wanted to visit villages because life of villages is quite inspiring. Since then I made my plans that I will definitely go to tour with my little sister and my teachers of coaching center.

When I returned to home I started my packing for tour and at night I was very excited and I couldn’t sleep in excitement then I woke up early in the morning at 8 am and had breakfast then I left for tour. When we crossed highway, suddenly our bus in which we were travelling stopped, everyone was like what happened then the bus driver said that due to any fault in engine bus cannot move so it was going to take time. Then near toll plaza there was one Dhaba in which all teachers and students stayed for taking tea and snacks. Tea for me is like lifeline to me that makes me feel fresh and relaxed. After finishing my tea my sight spotted a beautiful view of farms and villages at the backside of dhaba. I told all girls to go there and have a look. Then we all went there and noticed farmers working in the farms and we took selfies at farm and enjoyed every little moment there.

Time passed with the flow and bus was also ready to go to our destination then after one hour we reached Tando Soomro village. It was different from other villages that it has a beautiful farm named as Asim Farm House. When I reached there what I thought and it’s totally different from that. When we entered in the Asim Farmhouse we saw everywhere beautiful farms and trees of fruits, vegetables, flowers etc. When we reached there we all went out from bus and we saw beautiful view that I had never seen before . The farm was very much beautiful full of greenery and it was not look like other farms that are in Pakistan. For few seconds I forgot that I am in Pakistan. Big ground garden full of beautiful trees and flowers that touches our hearts and I forgot my all fears and pains for that day because it was beyond my imagination. I started capturing memories with my female teachers and friends then everyone was sitting and enjoying by themselves. Some were playing cricket others were playing football, girls were taking selfies, little students were playing games. Teachers and young boys were singing songs and playing guitar. Everyone was busy in their flow.

After this two hours passed and everyone was feeling tired and hungry. We all then went to rest house and ate our lunch and after eating, we all became energized again and visited rest house. The rest house in the farm was very much beautiful and what we saw that is much more informative. In rest house there was one hall which was fully furnished and where different countries farmer’s heads came and discuss their farming tips and apply them on their countries.

Beauty of farmhouse made us feel relax and then in rest house everyone was enjoying music show and all were sitting together. I went to the top of floor from where the whole farmhouse was looking so beautiful and at four sides of farmhouse only trees and farms that gave rest house a perfect look. After that all boys played cricket together and girls were playing khokho game After enjoying all were ready to go back to Hyderabad with this the beautiful day and journey came to an end.

Seasonal fun!

Winter season in Pakistan has its own charm and attraction, although it sometimes becomes unbearable for people mostly in nights and in morning but people still enjoy the beautiful season and they have pleasant time in winter where we feel change in climate because in Pakistan mostly we are fed up of the scorching heat with the problem of load shedding and energy crisis. Generally winter start in Pakistan from the month of November when the strength of heat is broken and cold winds start blowing and end in the month of February.

Winter is my favorite season of all. In winter season we can enjoy everything like get together, dressing etc. There is nothing better than a hot drink and thick, warm blankets on a frosty morning and the way everything on the Earth looks beautiful and dazing. Everything is just amazing doing in winter we enjoys watching movies in night and wear warm clothes that looks beautiful with latest design. In morning everything look fresh and green and the folk looks so beautiful. We eat different foods and enjoy every little moment of life.
There are lots of good things that I mostly like about winter is that it makes me feel happy that in winter season days are short and nights are usually small and we have lot of time to sleep and watch late nights movies. In winter season sun comes late and when its come its not hot like summer.
People in villages mostly takes sunbath in morning. Everyone sees the essence of the weather report during winter. Most schools, colleges and universities take breaks during winter season, while business in offices slows and schedules are rearranged according to the whims of winter season .

In the start of winter it become dangerous for people because due to sudden change in climate that is quite unbearable for people and they feel this change in their body and they start to protect themselves from flu, cough and fever by eating boiled eggs, eating honey and avoid to drink cold water and cold drinks.
In some areas of Pakistan like northern areas where winter become unbearable because temperature falls in minus degrees which in several cases become hard to handle.
Generally winter season is more preferred in Pakistan than summer because the people of Winter is also season of fruits and vegetables, many fruits like guava and oranges and many other dry fruits and vegetables like carrots and many others. Pakistanis are die fans of dry fruits which are found in huge amount mostly in winter where nuts and others fruits are traditional components of winter. In winter mostly women of villages made specials sweets in their home and made especially soups in vegetables and in chicken. Other specialty of winter is

hot coffee which is mostly used by people of Pakistan.

Winterzzz!!

Cozy nights, hot coffee, soft blanket sum up the winter season.
Winters are mostly much awaited because in winters we do not get rid of our daily routines but we are somehow relaxed and do not get any mood swings which usually happen during extreme hot weather and people go crazy. In Pakistan, in Sindh especially, winter season to us citizens is like villagers spotting an aero plane and jumping with joy. Winter season is expected to be started in the end of November and ends by almost the mid of January.

Like any other thing, winter also has its charms and somewhat repulsiveness as well for some people. With the arrival of winters, come so many little joys with huge excitement. People enjoy bonfire late nights and no matter how late it gets, they are never in mood to give up the warm fire and go early to beds.  As the excitement grows, we don’t fail to make the most of our favorite season. Only the smell of hot peanuts can arouse us and what makes us more exciting is buying lots and lots of them. Besides moong phali, all the other dry fruits are also eaten with much interest to keep ourselves warm enough. Coffee, however, is one of the most favorite drinks of people in winters. It’s loved and enjoyed by everyone. Coffee gives its true essence in cold nights only and not in the daytime. When people are in a joyous mood, they go for a cup of coffee and offer others as well. Among foods, oranges, soups, chocolates and honey are also loved because whatever gives us warmth in such breezy nights are considered the most pleasurable part of life. However, out of all the foods and drinks mentioned above, I am only fond of eating soups. People call me mad for not going crazy for coffee though.

Winters are surely loved by everyone but there are some drawbacks of it as well. The gloomiest and the most evil point of winters is you have to wake up early in the morning and leave your comforting position only to face the worldly problems all day. What troubles to me in winters is dryness. No matter how ample amount of moisturizers or lotions or crèmes I apply, dryness just wouldn’t go. Also, one of the things I love about this season is you don’t have to worry about the electricity load shedding; you sit there carelessly without fan working as long as its winter only.

Winter days and nights are enjoyed and welcomed whole-heartedly but even before it ends, we get terrified only by thinking about summers and our oozing sweats. We are finally going to say farewell to our adored season and wait for it until next time.

Hope you had your winters well.
